This wedding was back in August...full on wedding season at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple! I've never shot there, and it was a ZOO!! Oh my! I talked to another photographer and asked if this was normal to have this many people here and she said yes! Everyone was waiting for a spot on the steps to do group shots and if your group was out of the temple and there was no spot for you, oh well. Either wait or find somewhere else that wasn't crawling with people to take them.
I was nervous because my bride (who also happened to be one of my good friends and practically a sister growing up) has 7 kids altogether in her family, the groom has 10 and the extended family is also pretty large so I kept checking the stairwells and hoping that when my couple came out i would have an open one because where was I going to put all those people to take a large group picture?! Luckily I had my mom run over and stake one as soon as one opened and the couple was out...our group filled it all the way to the top!
I was probably being way over dramatic about it...but I was getting pretty nervous seeing that it looked like I was up front at a concert, having to elbow my way through all the people that were there at the temple that day. Seriously, there were a ton...and my hat is off to Utah photographers because they deal with this regularly but make it look as if the bride and groom are the only ones there that day!
All in all it was a fun (hot) day and I loved shooting at the beautiful Salt Lake temple!
